Yang Style Short Form

I practice and teach the Yang Style Short Form as developed by Professor Cheng Man-ching. This particular style is known for its healing benefits and accessibiltiy. Professor Cheng man-ching himself practiced traditional Chinese medicine.  His form favors relaxation, natural body mechanics, and a power that results from whole body integration. He often said that t'ai chi saved his life.

While providing great health benefits, this style has also been shown to be a superior martial art. Cheng himself was renown as a martial artist. More recently his student Grandmaster William CC Chen became a world champion martial artist and has gone on to train many other international champions.

My primary teacher, Master Wasentha Young, studied with William CC Chen. She also studied with other prominent instructors in the Professor's lineage in order to broaden her understanding of t'ai chi. She has offered classes and workshops internationally. I have studied with her for more than ten years learning a great deal about t'ai chi, body mechanics, and chi kung.  My background in healing reflexolo-chiand brief study with other prominent teachers in our lineage also informs the perspective I bring to t'ai chi. I believe that in order to truly understand t'ai chi one must develop an awareness of both the martial and the health benefits of the art.
